Busy Saturday
Wow, Saturday was fun and busy. We kicked off the morning with a 5k. The Fort does a free family run/walk every month, it's just been too cold/rainy to participate the last few months. I was sure we'd be the last walkers to cross the finish line, but we actually did fairly well. We came in at an hour exactly, which seems pretty slow to me, but I didn't want to aggravate my back by pushing myself too fast. Of course Lance and I had a great time going around to the booths for freebies and entering drawings. We didn't win anything but did enjoy ourselves. After lunch we headed up to a gun show and swap meet with some friends. The guys spent a few hours playing with dangerous weapons while us girls sampled Amish cheese (delicious!) and tried out expensive rocking chairs. After dinner at the mall we all headed to a hockey game, free tickets courtesy of our friends and their Army unit. The team was hosting military appreciation night so the army brought some toys out to display. I have no idea what I'm holding in the picture but it was heavy and Lance insisted on getting a picture with it. I think it may have been a grenade launcher. The game went well until the last few minutes when the other team came from behind to win. I think I'll take it easy today. At some point we need to buckle down and finish getting the house ready for baby, but it's nice to have some last bursts of spontaneity before our little one arrives.

Start of 9th month
We're heading into the 9th month and I thought I should post a quick belly update. Our baby is very active and seems to be very healthy. When I was in the hospital last week with dehydration our little one showed no signs of distress, in fact she seemed to really enjoy kicking the belly monitors. I've definitely noticed a little bit of slowing down for me. And rolling over in bed is a chore! Other than that I haven't had too much discomfort and I've kept up with my walking.

Baby Shower recap
We had our baby shower on Saturday. Not many were able to come because of all the sicknesses going around, but we still had a good turnout and lots of fun! We had the event at our neighborhood center, we basically had the whole building to ourselves. For games we had a fun baby quiz, measured my belly, and guessed what candy was melted into diapers. Everyone measured my belly as too big- the winner, David, was closest by measuring his own belly. I'm not sure how I feel about that. Baby Aria received beautiful gifts to finish off the evening. What wonderful and generous friends we have.

Hospital Visit and a Promotion!
Well this week sure has been a bit of an adventure. Wednesday morning I woke up in the middle of the night feeling nauseated. By the time I got up in the morning I couldn't eat or drink anything and decided to go into the hospital just to make sure I was ok. Lance was able to get the morning off and come with me. The doctor thinks my morning sickness is coming back, compounded with a few other things I was very dehydrated. As soon as we got to the hospital I had a first for this pregnancy - first time I finally threw up. Lovely. I ended up getting an IV to rehydrate me and was sent home with some very drowsy medication to "sleep it off." I almost immediately started to feel better but have still had some problems eating and drinking the last few days. I'm hoping the baby shifts around and gives my stomach a little more room.
Thursday was much better. Around lunch time Lance called and asked if I wanted to go to a promotion ceremony - his! I was still pretty tired from not being able to eat but was very proud of his accomplishments and got to put his new rank on him. Unfortunately he works in a secure facility which means no cell phones or cameras. So we don't have any pictures of his promotion but we snapped a quick picture from my phone when we got home.
Yesterday and today we've been getting ready for my baby shower. I'm actually a little bit worried about it. There's been a lot of nasty sicknesses going around including strep, flu and the stomach flu. I think we'll have to to wash our hands a lot and institute a no hugging rule at the shower, I don't want to go back to the hospital. If one more person calls to decline because of illness we may just reschedule the whole party. After she's born, I'm definitely keeping my little one holed up in the house until most of these crazy sicknesses have gone done. I'm not one for risking my newborn baby's health with such nastiness. I have about 6 weeks left until our baby is due! Lots to do, it's about time to get a hospital bag packed (just in case), get the car seat installed and checked, wash clothes and sheets, and spend a little quiet time together before it gets too insane.

Congrats to Lance on your promotion!

Just a good couple of days
Well last week was insane and an emotional roller coaster. This week has started out much better! Lance's work sent him to a Russian language class for the next while. Not only does Lance get to speak Russian but since the class is being taught by a university he should get up to 8 college credits.
I've been doing a lot of walking lately. As long as the weather is nice there's a 5k later this month that I'd like to go to. I went to a free class this morning by Sweetbottoms Baby boutique. We learned about the benefits of wool diaper covers, learned how to sew them out of old sweaters and then we each got to pick out a wool cover. I picked a cover with a built in skirt. It's so cute! I have a wool sweater that I might try to work with later today but for now I think I'll take a break.
