Halloween 2013

Happy Halloween!

The front door was a pumpkin patch for the little ones who where afraid to go through the haunted garage.

We got fancy with our pumpkins
Glow in the dark makup makes scaring people under blacklighs that much more fun.

Here's some pictures from our yard and inside the haunted house.

Yes we had flags. Deal with it.

Camping a third week in a row

We're at it again for the third week in a row. Buffy Aria and I enjoy camping in our little trailer. The last two trips hade nice warm weather. Things are different this time. I'll let the weather alert speek for me.
Brrrr. It's supposed to get down to 29 at 7am. It's a good thing I insulated the trailer.

Well we're on our way home. We did great without a heater in the trailer, although I'm sure it would be nice to have one. We spent today fishing but the fish didn't cooperate.

Aria all bundled up ready for the cold night.

This is how we all felt in the morning.

Love the morning views!

Our breakfast chef

Beautiful lake front property!

Brr, a chilly morning.

Aria was so bundled up that she fell down a lot but Daddy helped her out.

Beautiful lake and beautiful little angel.

Buffy trying out the fishing thing.

Daddy's little fishing buddy.

Lance's big catch of the day.

Lance and Aria found a dead fish on the shore. Aria had the best time poking it with a stick.

I made popcorn on our camp stove but didn't realize my regular recipe doesn't fit the pan. Luckily it was kettle corn so it stuck together.

Pumpkin Picking

We stopped by a roadside market to pick our pumpkins. The weekends have been too full with camping to go to a proper pumpkin patch but it was the perfect size for little crazy to pick a pumpkin. Aria actually ended up with two, the first pumpkin she picked was a tiny pumpkin that she carried around almost the entire time.

2 weekends, 2 camping trips

Now that our little trailer is getting some finishing touches on it we've decided to put it to good use. Both last weekend and this weekend our little trailer got some camping action. We'll start with last weekend. We went to Falls Lake with another family and their somewhat annoying dog. It looked like it might rain all weekend but we only had to endure a short, light sprinkle. We arrived late Friday night and stayed through Sunday afternoon. It was a nice lazy camping trip. We left our friends for a short hike out on a peninsula, which was beautiful. Other than the somewhat annoying dog eating a whole in our tent that our friends borrowed, we had a fun time. Of course Aria thought she was in heaven, fearlessly tromping through the forest and playing with sticks. Our dog Rue also loves the attention he gets on trips and had a fantastic time. On Sunday we all went looking for a few geocaches. We found all 3 that we searched for, each progressively more difficult than the last. The first was a medium box sitting next to a fallen log. The second was a tiny ear protection case hanging in a tree and the last cache was a fake rock buried under several inches of dirt. I thought the last cache was a bit overdone and Lance agreed so we left it unburied for the next adventurer to find.

Our second weekend trip was a shorter. We had a primary temple activity in Apex on Saturday morning so Friday night we stayed at a camp ground only 10 minutes away from the temple. During the week we had decided that since we camp we should start fishing for our dinner so Lance picked up a fishing rod and some gear. We arrived in the evening and only had a short while to fish before dark. Lance succeeded in catching a small catfish but let it go since it was so small. After the Saturday morning temple trip we went back for a couple of hours to try fishing one more time. Lance caught a small blue gill but again we let it go because it was so small. Aria did enjoy petting the fish before we let it go. I guess we'll have to book another camping trip since we didn't eat any fish.

Camping weekend 1: Friends!

Buffy caught a bee. "Now what?"
We did some geocaching. Rue was a big help
Buffy used a fire starter we got from Sherwood florist candles in beaver. If you don't have any of them get some. They work great.

Camping weekend 2: Fishing!

I once caught a fish this big.
