Due Date 5k

Well, since we're still waiting for our little one we decided to squeeze in one last (hopefully) 5k. It rained on us the whole time but it was still lots of fun. Each 5k has a field full of vendors giving away prizes and raffles. We got some fun giveaways like a small tool kit and first aid kit but didn't win any raffles. One of the army units brought out their mascot Black Jack the donkey. He didn't walk the race with us. As an added bonus we completed the 5k about 6 minutes faster than last time. I took a nice nap this afternoon so I'm ready and rested if the baby decides she's ready too.

Just had to add a quick update to our afternoon. Apparently today hasn't been exciting enough so a water pipe in the upstairs bathroom decided to burst and shoot water out of the wall. Luckily Lance was able to find the main water shut off. Not only was there inches of water in the upstairs bathroom, but it leaked down through all the vents and light fixtures in our downstairs hallway. Quite the exciting incident. I'm glad the housing company is sending someone out later today to fix the pipe. At this point in pregnancy I really need running water, especially for the frequent use of the toilets. Now if only my water would break too....

Happy Friday

No signs of baby yet, looks like we get to walk another 5k tomorrow. We had a good evening together eating Mexican food and picking up a few more baby gear items. I think the plan for this weekend is to finish one or two little projects and then relax. Honestly I've missed out on all my naps this week so hopefully my nap tomorrow actually happens :).

No Nap For You

Since we're getting closer I'm going to try and post updates here every day or two. We had an appointment today which was fairly disappointing. My midwife called in sick so I had the pleasure of being used to train some kind of med student. I left my appointment pretty upset but Lance is awesome and cheered me up by fixing dinner. Our little one seems quite happy to bounce and kick away in my tummy and doesn't seem in a hurry to come out. On another note, I tried to take a nap today and someone decided to help me. I never did quite fall asleep but I relaxed for about 1/2 an hour with this view:

Almost there

Thought I'd post a belly picture. Here we are at almost 40 weeks. I need Lance to take some maternity pictures for me- we're running out of time and this belly won't be around much longer!

Lake Geocache

We went geocaching again today after Lance got off work. He picked a geocache at the end of a lake. We ended up hiking about 1.3 miles and once we got away from the parking area it was a beautiful walk- I can't believe how trashy people can be. We really did enjoy the walk by the lake and forest. We saw tiny frogs and a turtle. Lance found the geocache under a fallen tree next to a cute little brook. It's nice to get out and explore new places. Geocaching has been a great way to explore the area and get out doors.

Geocaching

We found our first cache. Buffy wanted a walk, I wanted an adventure. We got both. Just a mile from our house was a cache so we went for it. We traded a travel bug for an army bracelet. The next cache we find we will leave the bug and take something else. I love my I phone/GPS.

New Toy for Lance

We've had some neighbors move recently and someone left behind a nice grill with a propane tank. Lance is an expert at finding unwanted items on the curb and his dreams came true when he found this grill. We've already used it a few times. Look like Aria might be getting Lance some grilling accessories this year for Father's day.

Church chili cook off

We went to our church chili cook off tonight. Lance was a judge and had to make sure to taste everything. After the dinner we were going to participate in the line dancing lesson but I suddenly became exhausted so we left early. It was still a fun if not short evening.

Earlier today I had a baby apt. Everything is going along just like it should. Doesn't look like I'll be having a baby quite yet but my body is starting to prepare for her birth. I still have two weeks before our due date and possibly a little longer if she's stubborn. We're really getting close, it definitely doesn't feel real yet- I can't believe we're going to have a baby!

Aloha Zoo

We had a fantastic time today with some friends at the Aloha Zoo, a small animal sanctuary. I wasn't planning on going anywhere today, especially since Lance has been working long hours and I wanted to give him a break. This morning he replaced his motorcycle tires, changed the oil and tightened the chain with the help of a friend, Scott. I went for my two mile walk and just as I was finishing Scott's wife called me and invited us to join them at the zoo. I've been wanting to see some animals and it was a beautiful day to go.

Although a very small zoo in a rural neighborhood, I was very impressed with their habitats and passion for their animals. Most of the animals living there have been rescued and a few of them really showed signs of more difficult times. I'm glad they live in a nicer place now. The most prevalent animals were the peacocks and miniature horses. The owner of the zoo breeds and shows champion mini horses. I'm not sure why all the peacocks were there. The walking area of the zoo is not large but has tigers, a bear, wolves, monkeys, a giraffe and several other small mammals. We boarded a tractor train and took a ride around the larger pastures and had lots of fun (Lance had way too much fun) feeding the animals bread. On the way out we visited with a huge horse. Animals definitely have extra senses, he kept trying to eat my belly. Either he knew I'm about to have a baby or he was hoping I was hiding lots of apples in there.

To finish up our day we tried a Mexican restaurant that was suggested to Lance. Poor Lance has been in search of a good bean and cheese burrito ever since we moved to the east coast. Unfortunately, he has yet to find his golden burrito but the place we tried tonight had the best bean consistency yet according to Lance.
